Delete your account

Last updated 11 September 2026

Delete your account from inside the app

  1. Open Hygge Today on your phone and sign in, if you are not signed in already.
  2. Tap the Profile tab, the last tab in the bar along the bottom of the screen.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of that page and tap Delete account. It sits just below the Log Out button.
  4. Read what it tells you, then tap Delete my account to confirm.

You are signed out straight away and your account is scheduled for deletion. If you use Hygge as a guest, without an account, the same four steps remove everything the app has saved for you, but there is no way back in afterwards, so a guest deletion cannot be undone.

Cancel Hygge Pro first, if you have it

Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription. Hygge Pro is billed by Google Play or by Apple, and only they can stop it, so cancel there first or billing continues after your account is gone. On Android: open the Google Play app, tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions, and cancel Hygge Pro. On iPhone: open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions.

If you cannot open the app

Write to contact@hygge.today from the email address your account uses, with "Delete my account" as the subject. We use that address to confirm the request is really yours, then schedule exactly the same deletion described below. We answer within 30 days, and usually within a few days.

What happens after you ask

Deletion is not instant, on purpose. Your account is marked for deletion and locked, and everything in it is held for 30 days in case you change your mind: sign in again inside that window and the app offers to restore it, exactly as you left it. After 30 days a scheduled job removes it permanently, and at that point nothing can be recovered.

What is deleted

When the 30 days are up, all of this is permanently erased from our servers:

  • Your sign-in record: your email address, your password, and any Google or Apple sign-in linked to the account.
  • Your profile: the name you gave us, your focus areas, and the settings stored with your account.
  • Everything you wrote: journal entries, notes and the folders they live in.
  • Every file you attached: photos, voice memos, and the transcripts made from them.
  • Everything the AI features produced for you: daily, evening and weekly reflections, and your conversations with the writing companion.
  • Your trackers and their history, moods, saved quotes and verses, and your Bible highlights and tags.
  • Your subscription record held by us, which is the note of whether Hygge Pro was active.
  • Your notification tokens, so nothing further can be sent to your devices.
  • The diagnostic logs stored under your account identifier.

What is kept, and for how long

  • For the first 30 days, everything above is kept, locked, so that signing in can bring it back. That grace period is the only extra retention that applies to your own content.
  • Any short-term copies kept by our hosting provider for disaster recovery, which are overwritten within a further 30 days and are never used to bring a deleted account back.
  • Aggregate usage statistics: counts of things like which screens were opened and which features were used, kept so we can see how the app is doing. They never contain the text of your journal, cycle tracking is left out of them entirely, and the random identifier they carry stops pointing at any person once your account is gone.
  • Records held by the app stores: if you ever subscribed, Google and Apple keep their own purchase and tax records, which are theirs and not ours to delete. Ask them directly.

Anything that never reaches our servers is not ours to delete either. The cycle tracker is encrypted and kept on your phone alone, and so are your reminder times, your reading preferences and your app lock setting. Removing the app takes all of it with it.

What we store, and why, is set out in full in our Privacy Policy. If anything here is unclear, or a deletion does not go the way this page describes, write to contact@hygge.today.
